pie of a very valuable and his-
toric parcel of land on Mount Sco-
pus in Jerusalem. By redeeming
this land to become the property
of the Jewish people, Mr. Simons
has made a substantial contribu-
tion to the progress and expan-
sion of the Hebrew University, Mr.
Levin added.
Mr. and Mrs. Simons are Zion-
ists of long standing. For a
period of more than 25 years Mr.
Simons has devoted himself, among
other Jewish causes, to the work
of Palestine's reconstruction. His
devotion to the Zionist cause took
him to Palestine on two occasions,
and both times he returned with
increased enthusiasm for the work
of the Jewish pioneers. Mr. Si-
mons has other philanthropic in-
terests in Palestine, including the
vstablishment and maintenance of
a free loan agency, and is now
sponsoring the building of an In-
fants' home in Jerusalem.
