City and state officials this week
signified their readiness to join
the Jewish communities of Michi-
gan in welcoming to Detroit the
world president of the Jewish Na-
tional Fund, Menachem Ussishkin,
on Sunday and Monday, Jan. 18
and 19.
Plans outlined by the commit-
tees in charge of arrangements in-
clude a reception at the Michigan
Central depot on Sunday morning,
Jan. 18. At noon that day, a
luncheon will be given in his honor
at the Philadelphia-Byron Talmud
Torah. This will be followed by
a public meeting in Northern high
School and a parlor meeting in the
evening at the home of a promi-
nent Jewish citizen.

Reception at City Hall.
On Monday morning, Mr. Ussish-
kin will be officially welcomed to
Detroit at the City Hall by Mayor
Frank Murphy, in the presence of

a representative group of citizens
and a special committee to be ap-
pointed by the mayor. Governor

Wilber M. Brucker will be repre-
sented by a special committee.
Fred M. Butzel will deliver the ad-
dress presenting Mr. Ussishkin to
the mayor.
Mr. Ussishkin will meet with a
group of Detroit leaders at noon
on Monday, and other functions are
planned for that day.
