The Princess Radziwill has here
given us a very sympathetic story
of the life of the Prince Alexi, son
of Nicholas II. of Russia.
A lengthy description of the ev-
ery-day activities of the Russian
heir-apparent, of his sickness (Hae-
mophilia, or internal bleeding), his
desire to be active but the forced
vigilance to prevent the bleding at
the slightest cause,—all these inci-
dents are so sympathetically de-
scribed by an evid.mtly partial
friend of the Russian Czars that
they arouse pity. Indeed, the title
"Child of Pity" is well ch Sell.
The heartaches suffered hy the
Czar and Czarina over their sews
illness, the deep hurts displayed by
his sisters, the descriptions of their
last days.—these form very sad in-
cidents of the sad story of a tragic
imperial family.

Verses for Children.

"The Pointed People," verses •
and silhouettes for children, by
Rachel Field, published by the Mac-
millan Co., was first published in
1924 by the Yale University Press,
and in its new Macmillan edition
contains a number of additional
poems. Excellent poetry and sil-
houettes that emphasize the con-
tents make this volume stand out
as one of the best volumes of poems
for children. Possessing the power
to arouse the imagination of youths,
Miss Field's work is highly com-
mended.
