Tagore

in Sympathy
With Zionist

Aims

WARSAW. — (J. T. A.) —
Deep sympathy with the aims
and aspirations of Zionism was
expressed by Rabindranuth Ta-
gore, world-famous Indian poet
and winner of the Nobel Prize
for literature in 1913, in an in-
terview with the Jewish Tele-
graphic Agency. Tagore, who
is on his way from Moscow to
Berlin, was accidentally encoun-
tered by the correspondent of
the Jewish Telegraphic Agency
who was en route to the World
Congress for Palestine Workers.
Tagore recalled that two years
ago he had received an invita-
tion to come to Palestine. Ill
health, he said, had prevented
his acceptance. He hoped that
his next journey would be to
Palestine. Ile is tentatively
planning his Palestine trip for
next year in order to see for
himself the Jewish National
Home. When the train on which
Tagore was travelling reached
Warsaw, he was accorded an un-
expected and entirely spontane-
ous ovation by a crowd at the
station.
