T HIRTY years ago—when the Detroit Creamery

was founded—the milk supply of Detroit was
produced, handled and delivered in a haphazard way.
The cows were mostly "scrubs".. fed indifferently
.. housed in ill-lighted barns .. milked in question-
able surroundings.

Little, if any, equipment was sterilized. The milk was
not Pasteurized. It was simply collected and delivered
in open cans—dished out at the roadside or poured
into open receptacles left on the door step.
• •
Then came Detroit Creamery! The founders pledged
themselves to give Detroit the safest and finest milk
found anywhere in the world. A program was started
—and its results are now dairy history.

Farmers were educated to the necessity of healthy,
well-bred cows .. scientific feeding .. airy, sun-lit
dairy barns .. sterilized utensils .. cleanliness and
sanitation everywhere.

Millions of dollars were spent by Detroit Creamery
in equipment to handle the milk and protect its purity
from the farm to the table. It pioneered in Pasteur-
ization several years before Pasteurization became
a city ordinance. Also in every other proven safe-
guard known to the dairy industry.
• •
Today—if you will visit the Detroit Creamery Plant,
you'll see the testing and retesting of the milk in
laboratories .. the sterilizing of equipment with live
steam .. the automatic filling and sealing of the
bottles .. the extra precandon taken everywhere
to insure extra pure, extra safe milk.
