HADASSAH YACHNITZ

Nine-year-old Hadassah Yach-
nitz, It member of the Jewish Cen-
ter, won the essay contest of the
Allied Jewish Campaign,for her es-
say on "Why Do We Need a Jew-
ish Center?" She received first
prize of $111. Second prize of $8
went to Bessie Kramer of the Park-
side Hebrew School who wrote on
The Rebuilding of Palestine."
Third prize of $7 went to Rose Her-
man of the Philadelphia-Byron He-
brew School, for a paper on The
Value of a Hebrew Education."

Rabbi Jaffa gave this program
before the Kentucky - Tennessee
Sisterhood at their convention last
November. Ile was invited next
by the Indianapolis Sisterhood,
where he lectured and sang on Ap-
ril 21. On the invitation of his col-
league, Rabbi Fink, he consented
to present his program at the Hil-
kl Foundation. Rabbi Jaffa is in
Detroit this week to address the
convention of the Michigan State
Federation of Temple Sisterhoods.
Rabbi Jaffa is well known in De-
trait, especially to those who at-
tended the supplementary services
at Temple Beth El during the High
Holy Days in 1928 and 1929.
