George Arliss' first all-talking
screen production "Disraeli" reveals
the interesting fact that "yes men"
commonly identified in this present
day as by-products of the film in-
dustry, were flourishing more than
a century ago.
To be sure, Lord Probert, head
of the Bank of England, played by
David Torrence in the film version
of "Disraeli" that will he shown
at the Century Theater on Sunday,
Monday and Tuesday (April 20,
21, and 22), the Alhambra and Tux-
edo Theaters on Wednesday and
Thursday (April 23 and 21), and
Annex Theater on Saturday, Sun-
day, Monday and Tuesday (April I
26, 27, 28 and 29), refuses for the
moment to lend the money to buy
the Suez Canal—hut only for a
moment! In the dramatic scene
which ensures, Disraeli threatens to
use his power to bring the nation'
and the bank crashing down on
their heads if Lord Probert refuses.

Edgewater Park, one of Detroit's
most beautiful pleasure resorts,
will open its gates Saturday, April
19, preliminary to the grand open-
ing to be held in May. Until the
park is opened for the season, it
will be Open during the rest of Ap-
ril, on each Saturday and Sunday.
With the addition of several new
amusement devices, notably the
Caterpillar, the Hey-Day and Fun-
On-the-Farm, Edgewater Park has
practically every attraction to be
found in similar resorts, several of
these having just been installed at
Coney Island.
The century-old log cabin, once
occupied by the owners of the es-
tate that borders on the River
Rouge has been moved intact from
its old ' site beside the lagoon to a
place nearer the entrance.
Throughout, the park has been
renovated, painted, cleaned, new
trees set out and a windbreak of
spruce trees planted. Edgewater
Park already is famous for its nat-
ural beauty and heavy groves of
trees that provide ideal spots for
family picnics.
As in past seasons, there will be
no admission charged and free
parking space has been provided
for 4,000 automobiles.
Being adjacent to Grand River,
between Lahser and Telegraph
roads, on the Seven Mile road,
Edgewater Park is near bus and
car lines and last year became the
recreation spot for thousands of
residents of the northwest section,
west Detroit and suburbs to the
southwest and northwest of the
city.
