Dr. John Slawson, director of
Detroit Jewish Federation, was
speaker of the evening. Mrs. David
Kallman, accompanied by Miss
Thelma Gordon, rendered a num•
ber of vocal selections. Gahm
Brothers played violin selections.
Mrs. Max Weksler, past presi-
dent, expressed appreciation for
the co-operation to the various
chairmen, and the league board of
directors presented her with a
marble lamp for her untiring ef-
forts. The league presented $500
to the United Hebrew Schools of
Detroit.

Under the auspices of the Stu-
dent Council, the students of Tem-
ple Beth El High School held their
annual Purim dinner-dance Satur-
day, March 15. At the table there
were addresses by Miss Marjory
Schembeck, the president of the
council, and Donald Roseroot, the
chairman of the social affairs com-
mittee. The entertainment con-
sisted of a one-act play, "The Pot
Boilers," by Edwin Rosenthal,
Helen Fishman, Richard Stein,
Marvin Jacobson, Gertrude Buch-
man, Liebe Ilalprin and John Sil-
berman, under the direction of
Mrs. Edith Kopelson. The evening
closed with dancing in the social
hall of the Temple.

An appropriate program and a
Hebrew playlet will be presented
by the pupils of the Six-Mile-road
branch of the United Hebrew
Schools on Sunday, March 23, in
the auditorium of the school build-
ing. The play was composed for
this occasion by D. J. Panush and
arranged for presentation by
Abraham I'anush, teacher of the
school.
All those participating in the
play are advanced students of the
Six-Stile-road school, and have ac-
quired a fair knowledge in the He-
brew language to be able to con-
verse freely on the stage. The
following are the students partici-
pating in the play:
