For the past several months one or more
persons have adopted the practice of rep-
resenting themselves as Tax Collectors,
mulcting unwary people to the extent of
thousands of dollars.

This is to serve notice that the City of
Detroit employs no collectors on real es-
tate taxes.

The description of one of the fake tax
collectors is that of a man between 45 and
50 years of age, with light gray hair, of
slight build and medium height.

If thus approached, call the police or
ask the person in question to return later
at a definite hour. Then inform the City
Treasurer's Office at Randolph 7961 and
your case will have immediate attention.

Bowles, the man. The same qual-
ities that made him a good judge

His record on the bench showed
him to be fair and square with all

classes and conditions in life with
his forceful character, legal ability
and impartial handling of court

He showed his keen interest in

"civic center" project. He was the
only public official in Detroit with
the courage to do this.
He again came out in the open
and fought the hundred-million-
dollar subway project. The peo-
ple rejected that as well as the civic
center plan and are more glad to-
day of having done so than they
were at the time.

and women who did not know the
sterling qualities of Charles Bowles
when he first ascended the bench,
now are numbered among his
staunchest admirers.
For Detroit's good they are sup-
