More Than Beauty!

A DOUBLE TRIBUTE

T

By CARL H. PELTON and CLINTON McGEE, Attorneys

It is with unusual pride and pleasure that we ex-

tend congratulations to Mr. Iffivinsky in the construc-
tion and completion of .Vontiac's latest and largest
office building. It is a notable addition to the business
life of our city. Indeed, few things do more to awaken
a sense of pride in one's city upon the part of the peo-
ple than public buildings of this character.
But it means more, much more. to those who have
known and watched this unassuming man throughout
the years. It has been our privilege to have shared
his friendship and acquaintance almost since the date
of his arrival in Pontiac some 25 years ago.
To us this building is, and will ever be, a witness
to a man's triumph over difficult odds: it will serve as
the symbol of the spirit of this restless yet resolute
man. To us there is no mystery or magic in his most
eventful career.
We are thinking of him now as we saw him upon
our arrival in Pontiac some two and one-half decades
ago, a youth with an imperfect knowledge of our
language. without money, without influential friends,
but a youth with a restless spirit and alert mind, a gen-
erous nature and a downright and a forthright hon-
esty.
In these days of group action he has singularly
made his way alone: but with all this there has ever
been manifest in him a fine community spirit, a pride
in the city of his adoption. In all worthy public causes
he has at all times quietly but generously and willingly
served. Nor are we forgetful of the fine home he has
established anti his most wholesome family' life. He
has proved himself the kind of man the people delight
to honor.
We are, therefore, heartily glad of this opportu-
nity to express our sense of appreciation of Mr. Kovin-
sky for the many contributions he has made to the life
and growth of our city and for the fine spirit he has
put into all his work.

HE picture of our new banking home in this advertisement

shows the massiveness of the structure as well as its attrac-
tiveness, and, of course, its location of Saginaw at Lawrence is a
decided convenience.
But most important of all is the fact that in it is being pro-
vided equipment and facilities to meet the ever growing needs
of the Pontiac community and the steadily increasing demands
for PEOPLES STATE BANK Service. We invite you to open
an account here and

SAUL J. BIRNKRANT

Saul J. Birnkrant of Pontiac, the
husband of Marion Joy, eldest
daughter of Jacob Kovinsky,
credited with helping Mr. Ktuvinsk
to a great extent in the completion
of the People's State Bank Build-
ing. Through his unceasing and
tireless efforts and his foresight of
the feasibility of fulfilling Mr. Ku-
vinsky's ambition of erecting the
tallest skyscraper in Michigan out-
side of Detroit, success in the pro-
ject was inevitable.
Mr. Birnkrant studied law in
Detroit and obtained his degree of
Bachelor of Laws from the Detroit
College of Law in 191h. He was
admitted to practice in the courts
of the state of Michigan and the
Supreme Court in the same year.

We were pleased to be called upon to render our material
services to such a magnificent structure as "The People's State
Bank Building" and it is indeed an accomplishment of modern
design and engineering and a monument that greatly enhances
Pontiac's position as a leader among other cities. It is also an
indicating factor that our city is due prosperity. The owner is to
be complimented on the faith he has so materially shown in our
city. We are pleased of the fact that we were called upon to
furnish the Face Brick, Kosmortar and all interior plastering
materials for Pontiac's largest monument.

ted to say a few words of commendation of my friend,
Jacob Kovinsky.
One only has to look at the growth of Pontiac and
he is reminded a mutt has lived here who had a vision
of a greater city and who has helped to build the
same.
Mr. Kovinsky deserves a great deal of credit for
building this magnificent building and many others to
his credit. But one of his greatest accomplishments
is that he has been able to do this of his own ability.
Ile started at the "bottom round of the ladder" and is
still climbing and, no doubt, he has greater things in
store for Pontiac, the city of his choice.
— his association with our bank as organizer and
director has been a great advantage to us and it gives
me great pleasure in wishing him further success in
all his future developments.

PONTIAC HAPPY TO NUMBER MR.
KOVINSKY AMONG ITS BUILDERS

PONTIAC, MICH.

A Tribute by E. L. W•it• of Waite Bro.. & Co.

EAMES &BROWN

It is with a great deal of pleasure that I add my
tribute to the genius of one of Pontiac's foremost citi-
zen, Mr. Jacob Kovinsky.

Ile has from his earliest association in the city
been industrious and a consistent booster in all matters
pertaining to the welfare of the community. His
faith in the future is demonstrated in the erection of
the Peoples Bank Building, which is now being dedi-
cated to the service of one of Michigan's fastest grow-
ing and busiest cities.

Pontiac is happy to number him among those who
are building this greater city.
