FLINT NOTES

The Talmud Torah of the Jew-
ish Community ('enter of Flint
held a semi-annual public exam-
ination last Sunday, April 2H, in
the presence of the parents and all
members of the Beth Israel Con-
gregation. Bernard Isaacs, super-
intendent of the United Hebrew
Schools of Detroit, conducted the
examination of the various classes.
The Flint Talmud Torah has a two-
fold system of teaching, both

English system.
Over half a hundred children
were examined in the various sub.
jrcts comprising the curriculum,
namely: In Bible, Jewish history,
teligion, Hebrew language and
grammar. The children of the

selves very satisfactorily, as Mr.
Isaacs stated later in his address
before the members assembled. ,
The afternoon was further enliv-
ened by the children singing Jew-
ish folksongs and national songs.
Prizes were then awarded by Mr.
Jacob Safer, president of the con-
gregation, to a number of children
who made particular progress dur-
ing the term. Refreshments were
served to all by the Sisterhood of
the congregation.
