A trip to the twentieth anniver-
sary convention of Young Judaea,
national Jewish youth organiza-1
lion, which will be held in Long'
Branch, N. J., .funs 211-24, will be
awarded to the winner of the no-,
tional essay contest of Young Ju-
daea, according to 1111 announce-

stein, president of Young Judaea.'
The national essay contest, spoon-
mired by Louis E. Cold-stein of
New York and a group of former
Young Judaeans, h a s been
launched as part of the effort to
attract nation-wide interest in the
Long Branch convention, which
will celebrate the opening of the
third decade of Young JUdileil'S
service to American-Jewish youth.
The subject of the essay contest
is "What Young Judaea )leans to
Me" and is open to all junior and
intermediate registered Young
Judaeans. A series of prizes have
been established, according to Dr.
Goldstein's announcement, which
range from medals to it trip to the
national convention.
The winner of the national con-
test will also be awarded a gold
medal with suitable inscription.
The second prize will consist 1,f
$25 in cash and a silver medal.
The third prize will consist of $15
in cash and a silver medal. Each
first winner in the 10 regions will

The contest is being sponsored
by the Mid-Western Oratorical
League, organized two years ago
for the purpose of stimulating ora-
tory among the Menorah societies,
Of the middle western colleges.

been held, with marked success,
and now the third is in full swing.
Winners To Compete in Chicago.
In the Detroit chapter, two of
the debaters in the recently held
Detroit-Chicago debate are to par-
ticipate. They are Yetta Peiman
and Irving Schlussell. Both of
these have WOO acclaim in the ora-
torical and debating field on pre-
. vious occasions, and are now try-
ing for laurels in the contest.
Other contestants are Esther Cu-
hen and Beatrice Peiman. Each
speaker is to speak not longer than
10 minutes on the subject of his
choice. and at the close the audi-

The winner of the Detroit con-
test will fro to Chicago, to speak
against the representatives of six
other universities of the middle-
west territory.
Mixer to Be City-Wide.
In the evening of the same day,
at 0:30, there is to be a ciy-wide
mixer at Shaarey Zedek Syna-
gogue, Brush and Willis, which is
upon to all students of the city.
This affair is being held for the
purpose of acquainting the student
body of the city with the purpose
and aims of the society, and to in-
crease the membership.
An excellent program has been
arranged. There is to be dancing
to the accompaniment of a snappy
four-piece orchestra, a short en-
tertaining program, one or tw o
speakers will address the audience,
and refreshments will be served.
An invitation is extended to all
students of this city to attend.

was held at the hem. of Mrs. A.
Katzin of 15101 Alden avenue, on
Monday' afternoon, April 29, for

The meaning and importance of
the Passover holiday was discussed
(luring the program of the Ezra
Yehuda Club's meeting on Monday
afternoon, at the home of the
leader, Mrs. I'. Slomovitz. The
club also discussed the biographi-
cal contest and the competition to
be conducted in Detroit clubs for
a song contest. Plans were made
for the oratorical contest on May
26. The next meeting will be held
