good plan, but he answered that
he could not leave her alone with
the mysterious visitor. And so
they decided to go to the rabbi to-
gether, and leave the stranger in
the house.
The rabbi's advice was very
sound. Ile explained that wjhat-
ever came into being through
magic was only visionary, and
therefore unreal. However, he or-
dered them to return home and
prove for themselves whether the
Seder was real or imaginary. If
the matzos could be broken, if the
wine could be poured out and
drunk, and if the Seder couches
felt soft and comfortable—every-
thing was real and good.
The pair returned home elated.
When they entered they saw that
the stranger had already left, but
the Seder stood there ready for
them. They found that the pillows
were real and soft, that the wine
could actually be poured out and
drunk and the matzos broken and
eaten. Then they understood that
the miracle man was none other,
