U. of D. Annual Show at
Temple Theater,

B. F. Keith's Temple Theater
will be the scene of the University
of Detroit's third annual opera,
"Hoods, Nly Dear," during the
week of April 28. This change in
houses is due, according to John
Hut-pennon, general chairman of
the production, to the decision on
the part of the committee that the
Temple is much more suitable for
a production of this type than is
Orchestra Hall, which was first
announced as the scene of the pro-
duction.

To the Jewish Public in

Detroit:

For many years the Orthodox
Jewish public in Detroit felt
keenly the need and necessity
of a strictly Kosher Restaurant.
Observant, religious Jews had
no place where to consume their
meals without violating their
conscience to the true Jew
Kashrith; one of the most vital
items in Jewish life.

ON STAGING THE HEBREW
HELP ARRANGE FOR
PLAY, "JEPHTHAH'S DAUGHTER" BILLIKOPF DINNER
FOR U. P. A. DRIVE
By E. RABINOWITZ

President of United Hebrew Schools of Detroit.
To those of our friends who question the
of spending
time anInner gy on staging a play, too those who doubt the loroopriety
of Talmud 'forah students appearing on a stags , in the capacity or
actors, singers and dancers. I wish to say the following:
The plays which we present from time to time are inestimably
valuable from a demonstrative, educational and esthetic point of view.
When the Talmud Torah seeks some means by which to emphasize
the renaissance of the Hebrew language to bring home the fart that
Hebrew• has ceased to be the language of' the book unruly, but is becoi•
ing again a living tongue, then we cannot think of a better and more
stfective means than a play. A language must be living, indeed, it
life is to be enacted through its medium. No essay, no story, low any
other form of literature can depict life better than a ;day can. The,
plays of our picture and delineate the primitive ife of our ancestors
in the early periods of their history. Here we WE's. Our forefathers
all their primitive splendor and picturesqueness. We book with awe
and admiration at the devotion of a true daughter of Israel to her
father, and we feel that the pages of it chapter Of our ancient history
unroll themselves before our very eyes. This, coupled with the sound
of the Hebrew speech, the sweet Oriental melodies, the Ileautifull
appropriate sceneries will stir the emotion of the audience better than
anything else would.
It is therefore my contention that not only are we permitted to
stage such plays, but we are in duty bound to present them as often
as possible.

can Jewry.

If one Should be asked to intok•
a list of JeWN whose names ha,
a distinct and unique significance
in Jewish life the list would cer-
tainly contain the name of Rot.
keach, for today there isn't a cite
ot• village in the United States to
Canada where the name of Its-
heads is unknown. There is hard-
ly a .Jewish home in this countr,
and in Canada where Rokeach
Kosher and Purr Food Products
aro not used. There is scarcely a
Jewish family that does not realin.
the significance of Rokeach Prod-
ucts, and should Jewish housewi,,•<
be asked to describe in one atm I
t he most significant feature of
Itookeach products. the answer un-
doubtedly would be—purity.

Mr. Israel Rokeach started the
now famous Rokeach business in
Kovno. There was is crying no. , I
for a kosher cleanser and tin-
need was filled when ND% Isnot
Rokeach manufactured the fir,:
piece of Rokeach Kosher St,o,
with the sanction and encourag, -
men of the famous orlon and Jc,
ish leader. Reb. Isaac Elchanan
Spector of Kovno.
Coming to America when he s,
about NO years of age, Mr. ]sr, I
Rookeach founded in New York
company which has now becone•
one of America's most Dimon-
Jewish institutions—"I Rokeach
Sons, Inc.," manufacturers ott
kosher and pure products.
If you were to walk into a tit, .
eery store in any city or town is
the United States or Canada
where Jewish families live, you
would find at least one, and to
most instances all, of the follow
ing Rokeach kosher products:
Rokeach Kosher Soap, Rukeacit
Kosher Scouring Powder, Itokeach
Kosher Aluminum Cleanser, R.-
keach Steel Wool, Rokeach Kosher
Salad Oil, Rokeach Pure Honey,
Rokeach Kosher Nyafat, Itokeacit
Pure Fruit Preserves, 1;01,eac't
Pure Chocolate Flavored Do —.of.
Rokeach Pure Cocoa.
These products base found uni
versal acceptance among Jewisit
people, because the nano , "Ro -
keach" stands for "Koshruth"
for quality. If one would ord,
stop and consider what it meant to
keep a kosher house before It ,
keach Kosher Products were mono_
factored. one would then first real
ize the debt the Jewish public IIWC-
SO the name of Rookeach.
A few years ago there appeared
a new product.
Rokeach }Cosh,
Nyafat. This product is a purely
vegetable product and may Ire use I
for frying, baking, cooking. - h.,'
ening, etc.; being purely so go
table, it is neither "fleiseh.g" or
"milchig" and may therefore lot.
used in preparing "milchig" and
"tleischig" dishes.
The fame which has come to Ro-
keach products has eau ,. ol small
minded people to imitate the.,
products. The Jewish women of
Detroit will not allow themselve-
tI , be misled by imitations and w•
therefore ask them to look for the
name Kokeach on each and every
product.
The debt the Jewish women of
Detroit owe to the name Itokeaost
1, increased by the fact that they
may now add to their formerly
Inmited Passover menu the follow-
ing Rokeach products:
Rokeach Kosher Nyafat, Roe
keach Pure Honey, Rokeaeh Pure
Fruit Preserves.
When you go into your grocery
this coming Passover season you
will be able to purchase these three
food products and will be thankful
for them; and when you clean your
home for the approaching Passover
holidays remember that Rokeach
Kosher Soap, Rokeach Kosher
Scouring Powder and Rukeach
Kosher Aluminum Cleanser may
be used for Passover.

For years Willys-Overland has occupied the spot-light in the used car
market of Detroit because of the outstanding values offered. And now
we again come before the public and announce what we claim to be
our greatest sale in history.

NEW SPARTON MODEL 930

[Complete with Tubes)

In the entire history of radio, there has been no parallel to the amazing
advance in the QUALITY of music that was wrought this year by the remarkable
Sparton EQUASONNE.
A new circuit ... revolutionary in itself . . . brought with it a NEW VOICE;
one of almost unbelievable purity, smoothness and depth.
Your first impression of this magnificent voice will be one of delight rather
than wonder. The sheer beauty of it is irresistibly captivating. But then, when
it dawns on you that this enhancing music is, after all, an accomplishment of radio
science, the magnitude of Sparton's achievement will be fully apparent.
But perhaps the greatest of all of the Sparton EQUASONNE features is com-
plete mastery of the lower end of the dial. Think! A very large percentage
of all stations are on the "lower half." Included are some of the finest stations
on the air. Right now you are getting only a few. With the new Sparton EQUA-
SONNE literally scores of these . . . wonderful stations, too ... will be added to
your log.
