birth of Nathan Straus, American
Jewish philanthropist, was id.

member of the Palestine Zionist
Executive. Dr. .John Haynes
Holmes, pastor of the Community
Church in New York, who came to
Palestine as the representative of
Mr. Straus, was the guest of hon-
or.
In his address, Dr. Holmes char-
acterized Mr. Straus'a philanthropy
as many-sided and reconciling all
races and creeds, "America claims
Mr. Straus as a citizen, but he be-
longs not only to America but to
the whole world. Ile came to Pal-
estine first as a tourist, but felt
the challenge and today his l'ales-
tine work symbelizea his interna-
tional philanthropy," Dr. Ilolmes
declared.

Loan Association was given Sun-
day evening, Feb. 3, at the Fen-
