The Marriage of the Bear"

At Little Theater.

The reigning mystery film sen-
sation of the year will be present-
ed at the Little Theater this week,
as the Motion Picture Guild has se-
cured for a special Iletroit show-
ing the new Russian success The
Marriage of the Bear," produced
by the Sovkino company of Mus-
covy.
The film conies direct from it's
recent showings in New York and
Baltimore, where it has been pro-
nounced the most unusual and
thrilling mystery tale ever brought
to the screen. Described as a
companion piece to the play "Dra-
cula," the new Russian film deals
with a horrible scandal in the his-
tory of an ancient Russian noble
family, The plot tells of a certain
Count Shemet whose mother was
frightened by a bear shortly be-
fore his birth, with the consequence
that he grew up with the charac-
teristics of the animal and terror-
ized the country side by mangling
all beautiful young ladies who
crossed his path.
Accompanying the "Marriage of
the Bear" on the program at the
Little Theater there will be •
group of those unusual short sate
jects for which the Motion Picture
Guild is noted, including an early
comedy of Charlie Chaplin, and a
beautiful new screen fantasy en-
titled The Sea of Dreams." The
usual house features and the Lit-
tle Theater Trio will also be on
hand.

at the Fox Theater beginning Sat-
urday. It has been described as
the romance of an American cop
who goes to Paris to get his man
and not only gets his man, but
gets his girl, and then is brought
home by the prisoner, "cockeyed."
The supporting cast includes
Louise Fazenda, David Rollins and
Nancy Drexel. Miss Fazenda will
be remembered for her numerous
mirth-provoking roles on the
screen, being one of the foremost
of motion picture comediennes.
The picture will have a Fox Movie•
tone orchestral accompaniment.
As an added screen attraction
there will be an appearance of
Chic Sale, famous delineator of
rural characters, through the me-
dium of Fox Movietone. The in-
imitable Sale will give his most re-
cent skit entitled "The Star Wit-

Ilighly heralded "Burlesque"
will be presented by Arthur Hop-
kins at the Cass Theater next
Monday night for a limited en-
gagement. Mr. Hopkins nut only
produced the play; he is co-author,
along with George Manker Wat-
ters, and he staged it. Ilal Skelly
and Barbara Stanwyck are the
featured players. Both made
personal successes in their roles
in New York last season, both be-
ing new to the metropolis. Skelly
transferred from musical comedy
and vaudeville to the legitimate,
Miss Stanwyck coming from a
night club with only one previous
part on the stage, and that a minor
role. They come here with thi
same original company surround-
ing them, which should be a god-
send to local theatergoers.
