PARIS.— (J. T. A.) — The
Pica, Palestine colonization agency
created by Baron Edmund de
Rothschild, plans an extension of
its colonization work in the cram-
' try, it is stated here on good au-
thority.
The new development is to he
carried out near Hellen, where
new colonies are to he established.
A sum running into many thou-
sands of pounds has already been
alloted for this purpose. The
amount of £2,200 for the erection
of synagogues in the old Roths-
child colonies has also been allo-
cated. Suitable sites for the erec-
tion of synagogues have been pur-
chased. The model synagogue to
be erected will be in the colony
Benyamina.
It was learned that the Alliance
Israelite Universelle has decided
' to expand its network of schools
in l'alestine. An amount of £3,000
has been allocated for this purpose
by the organization.

MOSUL'S OIL PIPE
LINES TO BE LAID
IN PALESTINE

JERUSALEM.—(J. T. A. )-
Pipe lines carrying oil from the
Mosul fields will definitely be laid
to the future port of Palestine,
Haifa, it is reported by the Arab
newspaper Al Carmel.
The paper declares that the gov-
ernment has already assigned land
for the location of oil tanks be-
' tween the River Koshon and the
Wadi Saloman Tel Abuhawan. The
area is one kilometer long and half
a kilometer wide.
The Turkish Petroleum Ccm-
pany has purchased a thousand
dunam site for a reservoir and dis-
tillery. The Vacuum Oil, the Shell
Oil and other companies have ac-
quired land for this purpose. It is
expected that when the line is com-
pleted Ilaifa, as an oil center, will
be of greater importance to the oil
industry than Batum, the famous
Russian oil center.
