HAZOMIR SINGS OVER
WJR; GIVES BANQUET

On Sunday evening, June 21, the
Ilazomir Choral Society presented
its first radio concert over station
WJR. The program was arranged
in two parts, the first devoted to
solos by Miss Rhoda Goldberg, so-
prano and Benjamin Rice, basso,
while the second was given over
to choral music under the direction
of Professor E. Zaludkowski. The
program, for the greater part, con-
sisted of those selections which had
found the most favor at the recent
concert of the organization.
The society entertained on Sat-
urday evening, June 23, more than
150 guests at a banquet in the
main building of the Shaarey
Zedek. Nathaniel Raskin, chair-
man of the society, spoke briefly.
and Professor Zaludkowski told of
the history of the international
Hazonfir organization. The mus-
ical program consisted of solos by
Marian Nussbaum and Ruth .Sher-
man, pianists; Ethel Blumenfield
and Yetta J. Hoffman, sopranos;
Monis Schane, tenor; Charles G.
Cohen, baritone; and J. Fabian,
basso. Accompaniments were pro-
vided by Samuel Solomon and
Claire Silverman. David Gold-
berg presided as master of cere-
monies. Dancing concluded the
program.
Plans are now being perfected
for a picnic to be held at Belle
Isle on Sunday, July 1, by mem-
bers and friends of the Iliizomir.
Announcement has been made of
an outdoor program to be present-
ed by this group at Belle Isle on
Wednesday, August 15.
