El Nite, the final social affair of
the season, Saturday night, May
26. The Bethelite staff, the drama
club and the council combined to
provide the entertainment. The
council committe consisted of Her.

Yarrows and Bernard Eppstein.

Miss Edith Ginsburg has just
returned from a visit in Saginaw,
where she spent the week-end with
her mother. While there her friends
gave a luncheon-bridge and linen
shower in her honor on Saturday
afternoon. Tables were laid for
25 people. Miss Ginsburg's wed-
ding to Mr. Philip Stein of Toledo
will take place in Detroit on
June 24.

The Versatile Girls' Club rent-
ed a cottage for the summer at
Cass Lake. It was opened with a
party on Tuesday night.

S., will take place Saturday, June
9, at Belle Isle. Mothers who are
members of the chapter are re-
quested to have their children at
the Eastern Star Temple, HO West
Alexandrine avenue, at 12 m. June
9. Free transportation has been
provided for the children to Belle
Isle, and the committee in charge
will see that the children have
every attention and the best of
care. A special place Iin the island
has been apportioned to the chap-
ter's children, with ample police
protection, so parents need have
no fear in allowing their children
to go. Individual lunch boxes will
be provided for each child and re-
freshments served at the island.
Games and contests, with prizes
for the winners, will be the events
of the afternoon. After the party
the children will h, returned to
the Eastern Star Temple.

The bridge-tea given at Web-
ster Hall on Tuesday afternoon,
May 24, by Mrs. Isadore Karbel
and Mrs.Charles Greenberg, for
the benefit of the Sisterhood was
one of the most successful affair-
of the season. The hostesses who
defrayed all expenses and ar-
ranged for every detail, were cont.
plimented. Several of the guests,
impressed with the affair, volun-
teered to become members of the
Sisterhood. About three hundred
women attended, and receipts to
date are over $300. At the board
meeting held Monday evening, May
28, at the home of Mrs. Karbel,
on Collingwood avenue, a vote of
thanks was offered to Mrs. Green-
berg and Mrs. Karbel for their
generosity and effort in arranging
the affair.
The annual summer picnic of
the Sisterhood will be given at
Belle Isle on Tuesday, June 26. A
banner with the Sisterhood's name
will be posted on the main high-
way past the Casino and mem-
bers are invited to bring their
friends and families. Novel con-
tests and games will be arranged
for the grownups as well as the
children. Mrs. J. L. Ruby is in
charge of arrangements, assisted
by Mrs. Si. Bushkin and Mrs. Her-
man Fisher.
The annual meeting and election
of officers will be held on Monday
afternoon, June 18, at the syna-
gogue, corner Taylor and Wilson
avenues, at which time all reports
of the activities of the past year
will be read. Slembers and their
friends are invited to attend. Mrs.
Isadore Karbel and Mrs. Henry
Levin will be in charge of the so-
cial hour.

Bernard Weinberg, formerly of
Detroit, a student of the Jewish
Theoogical Seminary of New York
City, will again serve as rabbi this
summer at Camp Utopia, Narrows-
burg. N. Y. It is an exclusive camp
for girls and boys, indorsed by the
United Synagogue of An:erica.

Louis Behr, who has played
three years of varsity basketball
and captained the team this year,
is the first Jew to win the award
since its establishment in 1923 by

Ohio, as a memorial to their son,
who died in 1919 during his uni-
versity course.
The 1928 winner is the fourth
of eight children of Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Behr of Rockford, Ill. He
is 22 years of age, a senior in the
college of letters and science, and
was president the past year of the
