BUCIIAREST.—(J. T. A.)- -A
spectacular method of producing
the material evidence of the anti-
Jewish excesses in the University
of Bucharest was employed by the
Jewish deputies, Filderman and
Bercovici, in their frantic .effort
to make the Rumanian government
realize the results of the new anti-
Semitic excesses and the immi-
nent danger of anti-Jewish riots
on a large scale.
The deputies brought one of
the Jewish students, who was seri-
ously injured on the university
campus during the excesses, into
the government house, where the
Council of Ministers was in ses-
sion. It was at that meeting that
the cabinet issued strict orders to
prevent the occurrence of new
riots.

A new interpellation was intro-
duced into parliament concerning
last week's excesses by the Jewish
deputy, Straucher.
The extent of the danger to
Jewish life and property and the
methods employed by the anti-
Semitic students in last week's
outbreaks were graphically de-
scribed in the text of the inter-
pollation introduced into parlia-
ment by Dr. William Filderman,
president of the Union of Ruma-
nian Jews. Alexander Cuza, no-
torious leader of the Rumanian
anti-Semitic students, has come to
Bucharest with a group of pogrom
agitators who have undertaken to
stage the new riots, according to a
report in the Rumanian liberal
paper, Lupta.
The Lupta, writing editorially
on the situation, asks whether Ru-
mania needs another edition of the
Cluj and Oradeamare riots. Cuza,
together with a group of notoriour
excess instigators, have come to
Bucharest and again begun work
to stage new riots. Of this, we
suspect the government is well in-
formed, the paper says. Notwith-
standing this, the minister of edu-
cation repeats his worn phrase
about "closing the university." This
time, however, the responsibility of
the government was established
ahead of time, the newspaper
writes.

PARIS.—(J. T. A.)—A com-
mittee of Jewish organizations
dealing with the problem of Jew-
ish emigration in Europe will
shortly proceed to South America
to survey the possibilities for Jew-
ish immigration there.
The committee will carry out a
decision adopted at the meeting of
the executive council of the Ilicem,
the agency of the Jewish Coloniza-
tion Association, the Hebrew Emi-
grant Aid Society of America and
the United Jewish Emigration
Committee of Berlin.
The committee will consist of
Dr. M. Kreinin and Aaron Benja-
min, member of the Hiss execu-
tive. They will meet Louis Oungre
of the Jewish Colonization Asso-
ciation, who will be in Argentine
at the beginning of May.
The committee will confine its
investigation to the possibilities of
immigration, omitting from its pro-
gram the question of colonization.
The meeting decided to amal-
gamate the two offices of the
!Deem in Berlin and Paris in or.
der to facilitate the work and de-
crease expenses.

MARSHALL FAVORS
HOOVER CANDIDACY

NEW YORK.—(J. T. A.)—
Louis Marshall declared himself
as favoring Herbert Hoover's
nomination for Republican candi-
date for president in a letter to
William H. Hill, chairman of the
New York State Houver-for-Presi-
dent Committee.
From personal observation and
familiarity with his outstanding
achievements," Mr. Marshall
wrote, "I am convinced now that
President Coolidge is unwilling to
be a candidate for re-election—
that Mr. Hoover is best qualified
for the Republican nomination for
the presidency.
"There are but few who have
had such a thorough training in so
many fields of action as have com-
manded his attention or whose rec-
ord has been such a triumph of ef-
ficiency. It would be a cause for
rejoicing were lie enabled to con-
tinue the policies exemplified by
Pesident Coolidge."

WASHINGTON, D. C.—(J. T.
A.)—The national origins plan,
provided for in the present immi-
gration law, which was to go into
effect on July 1, 1928, by a presi-
dential proclamation on April 1, is
postponed for one year, according
to a vote in the Senate yesterday.
The resolution was sent to the
House, and was favorably voted
upon by the House Immigration
Committee.
The provision, if put into effect,
