OLYMPIA HOTEL, MT. CLEMENS, SCENE OF
BRILLIANT PASSOVER CELEBRATION

The Woman's Exchange

of Detroit

47 ADAMS AVENUE WEST

LINENS, NEGLIGEES, LAMPS, SHADES
CHILDREN'S DRESSES, HATS, COATS

Beautiful to behold was the
Seder which inaugurated the big
Passover celebration at the Olym-
pia Hotel, Mt. Clemens, Mich.,
Wednesday evening, April 3. It
inns by far the most successful af-
fair of its kind ever held in the
Bath City.
Samuel Elkin and his son, Joe,
owner and manager, respectively,
of this famous hostelry, left noth-
ing undone to niake this event one
that would stand out as the crown-
ing achievement of their careers.
That they succeeded is attested by
the unanimous approval of their
guests.
The Seder, starting at 8 p. m.
and ending at 10:30 p. m., was pre-
sided over by Rabbi Weill, who
also acted as master of ceremonies.
The dining room presented the
appearance of a veritable garden,
vari-colored flowers lending the
decorative atmosphere. There were
152 guests present and it is sig-
nificant to note that it was the
first time in the history of the
Olympia Hotel that it was the
scene of such a gathering, for prior
to the Elkins assuming ownership
Jews were barred from this hotel.
So the irony of fate presented an
opportunity not only to observe
the deliverance from Egypt but
also the deliverance of the Olym-
pia Hotel from prejudice.
Many people were turned away
because, as was previously an-
nounced, a maximum of comfort
would he provided the guests and
rather than crowd those who had

made previous reservations the
Elkins chose not to deviate from
their announced policy.
Mr. Joe Elkin, manager of the
Olympia, announces that there
will be dancing Saturday, Sunday
and Monday evenings, April 6. 7,
and 8. Music will be provided for
the luncheons on Sunday, Monday
and Tuesday, April 7, 8, and 9,
from 12 to 2 p.
Among the guests who attended
the Seder and will remain for the
entire week of Passover are: Mr.
and Mrs. Landsberg, Air..1. Singer,
Mr. Milton Gordon, Mr. and Airs.
