The monthly meeting of Detroit
Chapter of Hadassah will be held
Wednesday evening, Feb. 22, at
8:15 o'clock, at the Federation of
Women's Clubs. Rabbi Adolph 11.
Fink of the Billet Foundation at
Ann Arbor will speak on the sub-
ject "This Wiser Generation." lie
will discuss Jewish youth at col-
lege and will explain the work of
the HiIlel Foundation, a subject
with which he is thoroughly famil-
iar, being the organizer of the Bil-
let Foundation at Ann Arbor in
September, 1926.
A fine musical program has also

Mrs. Howard Salzenstein, soprano,
accompanied on the piano by Mrs.

Hadassah members are request-
ed to set aside Feb. 22 for this
event, and to bring their friends.
Detroit Hadassah reports the fol-
lowing recent achievements: $229

On the afternoon of Feb. 19, the
Umpartayishe Folkshul Gezelshaft
will conduct a conference of all the
Jewish progressive and workers'
organizations in Detroit, in the
Children's Theater, 535 Kenilworth.
The purpose of the conference is
to create a large and well-equipped
Yiddish library in Detroit.
Organizations which will not re-
ceive a direct invitation to the con-
ference li re welcome, and the Um-
partayishe Folkshul urges all
groups to participate in this im-
portant local cultural enterprise.

The first meeting of the House
Council of the Y. W. 11. A. will be
held Monday evening. Two dele-
gates from every group which
meets in the building have been
invited. The purpose is to create
a working body that will plan the
social and recreational life of the
clubhouse.

Leap Year Dance:
On Feb. 11 there will be a spe-
cial program at the Saturday eve-
ning dance at Webster Hall, in the
form of a leap year dance. The
girls will be the hostesses and will
ask the boys to dance during the
entire evening.

Book-Chat Club:

The Book-Chat Club, which
meets on Tuesday evenings, invites
more enrollments.

Dr. Kornfeld to Preach:

On Sunday morning,. Fel,. 19, in
the absence of Dr. Franklin from
the city, the pulpit will be occu-
pied by Dr. Joseph S. Kornfeld of
Toledo. Dr. Kornfeld has had the
distinction of being the American
minister to Persia by appointment
of President Harding. While there
he did yeoman service not only
for the government, but incident-
ally fur the Jewish people resi-
dent in Persia, whose plight at that
time was a wretched (me. We sin-
cerely trust that Dr. Kornfeld will
be greeted by a very large and in-
terested congregation.

of Miss Bessie Hershfield, poetess.

Each of the three schools of the
Umpartayishe Folkshul Gezelshaft
has become a nucleus around which
the Jewish youth is gathering, and
from which it received cultural
nourishment and guidance.
The Yugent dugs meet twice a
week to study Jewish history and
literature, and to discuss vital Jew-
ish problems at the following
places: Umpartayishe Folkshul 1,
539 Kenilworth, Shute 2; 3430 Fen-
kel Shale 3; 12244 Dexter boule-
rare, (Dime Savings Bank build-
ing). The clubs are open to girls
and boys between the ages of 14
and 20.
A children's percussion orches-
tra, in which the children are learn-
ing to play primitive Instruments,
a MI in this way study rhythm, has
been organized in the Umpartay-
ishe Folkshul I, 539 Kenilworth.
The orchestra is under the direc-
tion of the violinist, Ben Silver-
steoin.
