Declares Best Interests of Detroit Jewish Com-
munity to Be Served by Consolidation.

The Detroit Jewish Chronicle, beginning with this issue,
announces the consolidation with it of the Detroit Jewish
Herald,
Philip Slomovits, former martagina editor of The Chron-
icle and during the past five months editor of the Herald, as
some. the editorship of the consolidated periodical.
The statement by the owners of the Detroit Jewish Her
aid declares that the consolidation has been decided upon
through the mar nt efforts of leaders in the community who
felt the meraing of the two periodicals was a necessity for
the best interests of the community.
The Herald Board of Directors, consisting of William H.
Kaplan, L. W. Kaplan and Harry Stamler, issued the follow
ing statement:
