POPULARITY CONTEST]
Rabbi letterman is famed for hue-
ing established Reform Judaism in
the province of Ontario. Until re-
cently there were only Orthodox
synagogues in Toronto. Under his
leadership one of the progressive
synagogues has adopted the Reform
ritual. Before coming to Toronto
he was an associate rabbi with Rab-
bi Harry Ettelson at Philadelphia
k
in the congregation formerly served
by Rabbi Henry Berkowitz, uncle
of the Rabbi Berkowitz that was at
Temple Beth El. Rabbi Is-german
has a wide reputation as a speaker
of persuasive eloquence and as a
preacher of great courage.
He is coming to the Chautauqua
Csnference in order that he might
apply in Ontario the latest advanc-
es in religious educational methods
to be reported at the Chautauqua
Conference and to be observed in
the School of Religion of Temple

The work of the Free Loan As-

ness and dispatch. Although the
endorsements on the applicant's
site are carefully investigated, the
aorrower obtains his loan in the
course of a week. In emergency
cases loans are granted in two
days.
The association exercises dig.

'very instance, the amount of mon-
loaned is based upon the appli-

makes likewise are determined by
his earning !mixer. The association
seeks to avoid a schedule of nay-

for the borrower to meet.
The wider usefulness of the or-

a larger capitalization, was recent-

"The Free I.' an Association," he
said, "should be in a position to

By LOUIS LIPSKY

Pres. Zionist Organizat:on of Amerca

The Independent Order Brith
Sholom is one of the outstanding
Jewish fraternal organizations in
due to its happy combination of
due to its hapy combination of
personal social interests and
broad Jewish interests. From its
very inception, the I. 0. B. S. has
been deeply interested in all ques-
tions affecting the welfare of the
Jewish people, It has given its
support, without reservation, to
the establishment of the Ameri-
can Jewish Congress, and as early
as in 1914, it has given its unquali-
fied endorsement and co-opera-
tion to the Zionist movement. If
it were not for the I. 0. B. S., it is
a question whether the American
Jewish Congress could have conic
into being.

The Zionist movement also has
looked to the I. 0. B. S. for coun-
sel and support, and has never
been denied the support asked of
it. Its propaganda has resulted
in the inculcation of sterling Zion-
ist principles in the large major-
ity of its membership.

The I. 0. B. S. is an organiza-
tion that is a credit to the Jews of
America.
