Going home for Chanukah—home to Mother and
Dad and loved ones—home to a hearty handclasp

precious privilege—true Chanukah joy. But in the
midst of all our happiness comes a few serious
thoughts, "Will we be 'going home' for Chanukah
next year?" Will Mother and Dad be there?" It's
a wise time to make your resolution to guard these
precious loved ones with all possible care. Mountain

Chanukah Greetings

NO SUBSTITUTE

I recently occupied a Christian
pulpit. Facing me were two me-
morial windows of such beauty
that I commented on them and
complimented their donor. Aft-
C
erwards I expressed a desire to
r.eet the individual of such good
taste, generosity and devotion. I
found that while he had both taste
and generosity he lacked devotion.
The minister told me that he had
not been in church for over a year.
;
It reminded me of members of a 1.0
synagogue who memorialize dear
ones in some beautiful costly way
and then seem to think that it
e/
doesn't metier if they themselves
rarely come. It thus often turns
out that their memento of the de-
parture of their dear one is also
a reminder of their own absence.
I can easily see how a Christian
can remember a dear one in a
church which he r••glects. His re-
ligion believes in vicarious atone-
