One of the unique activities of
Iladassah in Palestine is conducted
through its I'enny Luncheon Fund,
by means of which a large number
of school children in six schools in
Palestine receive a hot, wholesome
midday meal for one penny. The
funds for this activity are raised
by Hadassah's efforts in the relig-
ious schools of America during the
Chanukah season, when thousands
of American children joyfully con-
tribute their pennies for their less
fortunate sisters and brothers in
Palestine.
This undertaking was initiated
in 1922, when the small sum of
:88.79 WAS raised for this purpose.
The growth of this work is illus-
trated by the fact that Iladassah
succeeded in raising $9,000 for its
1926-27 needs, and is committed 10
a $12,005 budget for 1927-28.
The work is of the utmost impor-
tance—not only for health reasons,
but also for the educational advan.
