Chico marches away. The Movie-
tone shows some interesting reels,
including a one-act comedy with

of Gertrude Lawrence's.

Here In "Hit the Deck"

Vincent Youmans' latest musi-I
comedy success, "Hit the
Deck," will open at the New De-
troit next Sunday night, when this
new production, headed by Queenie'
Smith, will be put before Detroit's
theater patrons. Besides being the
composer, Mr. Youmans is also the
producer of the comedy.
For six months "Hit the Deck"
has been winning a great reputa-
tion on Broadway, and its several
popular melodies have leaped into
favor. Among those that have be-
come foremost are "hallelujah,"
a haunting Negro "spiritual," and
an irresistible composition entitled
"Sometimes I'm Happy." The
story of "flit the Deck" is derived
from the straight naval comedy,
"Shore Leave," produced some lit-
'tie while ago, with `ranee, Starr
in the leading part. The original
incidents were related in a former
magazine contribution.
