striking similarity between the
hardships, history and conditions
of those hardy I ilgron fathers and
the children it f Israel. The terrors
of the Atlantic—the terrors of the
wilderness. Have your choice. I
have often wondered how alike
must have been their thoughts as
they traveled their weary- way from
unfriendly but familiar shores to
the promised land aided only by (fo-
rmes of their enthusiasm and the
light of their new-born dreams,
I‘'ere not the American colonists in
"Egyptian bondage" until they
threw off the yoke of the "phar-

George III. And is it not natural
that from the. crucible of similar
sufferings similar ideals should be
eonceived. The first conception of

the American forefathers began a
document of momentous import

men are created equal--that they
are endowed by their Creator with

est critic of manmade formulas.
It has faced the torrid onslaughts
of kings and empires and is today
regarded as the impregnable fast-
hold of life, liberty and the pursuit
of hapnint.so. Countries have
adopted it as a model for their tan
constitutions; some have taken
those seven articles and DI amend-
ments without so much as omitting
a sentence or changing a phrase;
and not one nation on this great
green span but has been influenced
by it. The youth of America, in
nation-wide contests, are annually
reminding us of its greatness and
its inmortance. Hundreds of thou-
sands have lost their lives that It

It is quite the thing to take issue
with the old saying. "There is noth-
ing new under the sun." Such an
attitude stamps one as original,
open to conviction and of a scien-
