WINS YOUNG JUDEA
ORATORICAL CONTEST

Irwin Shevitz, speaking on "Pal-
estine and the JewiSh Youth," was
winner in the finals of the local
Young Judaea oratorical contest
over I. Cohen, whose subject was
"Palestine the Unifier of Israel."
Mr. Shevitz will now compete in
the national oratorical contest,
with a free trip to Palestine as the
coveted prize. He will represent
Detroit at the regional contest in
Pittsburgh, Pa., Saturday evening,
June 11.
Irwin Shevitz has been active
in Young Judaea for the past six
years, both as member and leader.
He is president of the Mogen Do-
vid Club, president of the Senior
Inter-club Council and leader of
the ('hatlutzim Judaeans.

ORATORICAL CONTEST

Mrs. Betty Gordon of LaSalle
boulevard, accompanied by Miss
Sarah Epstein of 1996 Clairmount
avenue, have returned from a 10-
day visit to Chicago, where they
were guests at the Hotel Congress.

Miss Ethel Selzer of 1981 Chi-
cago boulevard was the winner in
the annual oratorical contest of
the College of the City of Detroit.
Her subject was "Mississippi Flood
Conditions." She will receive a
