Aaron Sapiro blamed the collapse of the Maine Potato Growers' Asso-
ciation, from which he received $19,000 in fees and retainers, to the attacks
upon him in the Dearborn Independent. He said he had the word of G.
Herbert Fossett, president of the Maine exchange, that the Ford articles
drove the association upon the reefs. •
The first mention of Aaron Sapiro's connection with a "Jewish banking'
ring," in Senator Reed's cross-examination of the plaintiff, came when Reed
questioned Sapiro concerning a deal he engineered between an Idaho co-
