Their simplicity and ready adaptability to
any color scheme characterize these crystal
lamps. Their unique charm lies in the fact
that they can be filled with water of any

A Chance Meeting
Of Joe and Jack At the Club
Hello, Joe! ,
How're you, Jack? How's things?
Fine. How goes it with you, Joe?
Punk! Everything's dead. Tell me
Jack, how can you say fine when you know
business is N. G.; when you have sickness at
home; when the weather is so depressing?
How can you keep so cheerful in spite of it
all?
Jack: Huh! That's easy. It's no se-
cret. You can do the same. I simply give
my family and business the attention they
need and then I give a little time to other
worth-while things in life—a little decent
recreation, a good book—and then I give
liberally of my time and money for the
Community Fund, the European sufferers
and the Palestine Campaign. . Joe, I'd
rather give up my business than these ; I get
a real "kick" out of life.
I envy your disposition, Jack. But tell
me, did you really work in that U. P. A.
thing and give money, too? Do you expect
to go to Palestine?
Jack: Yes, I gave $500 for Palestine
this year and I'm proud that my eyes were
opened to the wonderful achievements of
our people there with the little money at
their command, and within a short few
years. If I go to Palestine, it'll be to visit
the country, and I'm not one of those who
thinks loyalty to Palestine is inconsistent
with loyalty to America. Why, that's bosh!
Joe : Are you working - in that cam-
paign, too?
Jack: You bet, and a lot of the fellows
at the club have come across for Palestine
when they had their eyes opened to the real-
ization that in that little country more than
160,000 of our people—good, hard-working
Jews—have actually settled and found a
home and a refuge from the horrible and in-
describable persecutions. You know, very
few Jews are even admitted to America un-
der the present immigration law.
Joe : I confess I've never given a cent
for Palestine. I always closed my ears.
Even when that man Weizmann was here
and Sam invited me to meet and hear him.,
I purposely stayed away, though I could
easily have gone.
Jack: Well, cheer up, old boy—we live
and learn. Let's go down and have a game.
(After the game—walking arm in arm.)
Joe: Say, Jack, I've got to confess
something. I've never felt just as I do this
moment. Guess I must have been one of
those guys they referred to in private con-
versation as tightwads. The said of one fel-
low : "He's going to have his money buried
with him," and since our little chat tonight
I think I understand a little better.
Jack: Well, Joe; good-night. Cheer
up; you're all right. I may have just stnick
the right chord in you.
Joe : Good night, old man— By the
way, Jack, what time are you going out so-
liciting tomorrow?
