As we came out of the marvelous
Cathedral of Lincoln, England, I
overheard an American school teach-

was: God help the pupils of such a

reaction to life wherein brain is car-

deal of thought, and a great deal of
energy, far more energy than the
United Synagogue is at present cap-
able of exerting, but which it could
exert if its man power was as large as
it should be, considering the number
of Jews in this country who adhere—
or say so—to traditional Judaism.
"But, after all, it is a mistaken no-
tion that Jewish education was ever
limited, or should be limited to the
child," Dr. Kaplan went on. "No, in-
deed, it goes beyond that. Jewish edu-
cation in, or rather, WAS a process car -

imposed duty of every Jew. That =
ideal man- to many minds, have be-I
conic outgrown, outmoded, it may have
been debased, dismissed under econom-
ic or social stress, but it nevertheless
remains one of the finest, highest
Jewish ideals. It must be restored as
a living force, here, abroad, every-
where. In other words, we must bring
the Jewish adult back to the study of
Jewish values as expressed in th e
Torah, in the Talmud. I feel strongly
that the United Synagogue should
take the lead in reinstating the ideal
of the Torah as a pursuit of Jewish
life.
"This I feel I must say—as a sort
of parenthesis that the rabbis who
have graduated from the Jewish
Theological Seminary have done more
to spread this idea in this country,
the idea of Jewish adult education,
than any other group in this country.
And this is true of them in the entire
field of Jewish education to which
they have given an enormous amount
of time and energy, too often single-
handed, at all times without having
in hack of them the strength that
would come from a large Jewish lay
organization.
In that they have done well, have
rendered • real service, because since
SO much emphasis has been placed on
the Jewish education of the child,
there is the danger of Judaism in this
country of becoming professionalized.
What Judaism needs in this country is
=
that it shall once again become
cured,' if I may use such a term; in
other words, that we shall endeavor
in this country, side by side with rdu-
rating our children, to develop a Jew-
iahly educated laity. And if we de-
velop that, we will be further along =
the road toward an adequate, all-em-
bracive system of Jewish education =
that will perpetuate Jewish values =
here.

Air Cooled Motor
The ABC motor is air cooled. It attains per-
fect combustion by consuming 13,500 parts of
air to 1 part of oil, by volume. This air must
pass through and around the motor—thus
keeping it cool. After hours of operation you
can hold it in your bare hand.
Here's what a noted engineer (name on re-
quest) said in a letter to a friend. "The motor
does not get hot at all, and by placing it in the
fire pot you do away with a whole lot of mech-
anism that is otherwise necessary."

The ABC motor runs at 8,000 revolutions a minute.
Any motor speed below this means poor atomization,
carbon, excessive oil cost. ABC, by its high speed, air
cooled motor, extracts from every drop of oil the maxi-

The ABC motor is made by the foremost manufacturers
of high speed motors. It costs three times as much as
the ordinary motor. Furthermore, it carries a three-
