F YOU have worn Hudson Seal you are aware that its cha•m-
ing beauty is matched by long and enduring service. Indeed,
it is this combination of handsome appearance and splendid
durability that keeps Hudson Seal constantly in fashion's fore-
ground. But, do you know why Hudson Seal is so beautiful and
so serviceable?
I
Of course, every woman knows Hudson Seal is made from
muskrat. The amphibious habits of the muskrat endow its skin
and its fur with characteristics so closely akin to those of the
Alaskan seal that it can be plucked, sheared, dyed and processed
in exactly the same manner as its rarer and more costly rival. It
is the only fur whose texture properly produces the seal effect—
the handsome gleaming lustre against a background that is black
—daringly, defiantly black. The same characteristics give it
durability. The leather is soft, pliable—hence drapable—and
does not become brittle with old age. The hair follicles are
deeply implanted—like the seal's—and do not shed.
It is from these prime local peltries that the Annis factory
tailors its beautiful Hudson Seal creations. It is genuine Hudson
Seal—the quality that has earned our nation-wide reputation for
quality, dependability and beauty in coats of Hudson Seal.

Muskrats inhabit all regions—and each region produces sev-
eral grades of fur. Unqualifiedly the best muskrat peltries for
the purpose of Hudson Seal are found at our very doors. Down
in the marshy estuaries of Lake Erie—near Monroe—our trap-
pers take the finest, richest, deepest-furred peltries the world
affords. Our Michigan climate may be abominable to humans,
but it is most kindly to muskrats. Farther south, the fur is too
coarse, and the pelt too leathery; further north the fur is too
perishable and the skin too tender. Michigan muskrats are the
happy medium.

There are several grades of Hudson Seal, and unfortunately
the name has become generic—applied to every muskrat dyed
black—so appearance means little as some men are adept at mak-
ing inferior furs look well.

Price by itself means little—it must be con-
sidered in relation to desirability—utility-
intrinsic worth. If a few dollars more for a
suit doubles the length of service and in-
comparably improves your appearance—
that is value return far greater than the
slightly greater price. Our clothes, indi-
vidually hand-tailored to your measure and
made from the finest woolens loomed, actu-
ally give much greater value return.
