At a meeting of the Detroit Service ,
Group held at the Phoenix club last
Wednesday noon final reports were
given of the work done by the mem-
bers in the Community Fund cam-
paign. Samuel Summerfield, presi-
dent, congratulated the members on
their work and stated that the lead-
en of the campaign had complimented
the Service Group for its excellent
showing. Several of the solicitors
have been instrumental not only in
getting increases in subscriptions and
a large number of new contributors
but in collecting unpaid balances from
former years.
Those present at the meeting were
Samuel Summertield, Morris D. Wald-
man, Nathan M. Gross, Samuel A.
Agree, Walter S. Ileavenrich, Harry
Z. Brown, Capt. Emanuel Lewis,
David M. Sidder, Ralph Weisman, II.
H. Bielfield, Harry Gerson, Joseph

Greater beauty, greater convenience, and
remarkable new silence and smoothness
of engine operation have followed these
vital betterments.

Chaliapin at Masonic.
The first major production of opera
to he staged at the new Masonic Audi-
torium, will occur on Monday evening,
Nov. 22, when Chaliapin and his com-
pany will appear in The Barber of
Seville." An audience of capacity will
be present on this significant occasion.
While Chaliapin will interpret the
capital and uproariously funny role
of Don Basili in his own production
of The Barber of Seville," he will
also act as stage director and artistic
mentor for this exceptional operatic
enterprise. This means that the great
singing actor will have only the very
best in the way of a background for
his own tremendous talents.
