Griswold

In recent years producers have
turned their attention to stage suc-
cesses as the foundation of muscial
shows. If this proves anything, it is
that a considerable public with a lik-
ing for musical plays is sufficiently
discriminating to bestow its patron-
age on those which at least possess
wholesomeness as a dominant char-
acteristic.
The "Garrick Gaieties," which
comes to the Garrick Theater, De-
troit, next Sunday evening, Nov. 7,
an engagement of two weeks,
bears

the only revue that has met with

against the massiveness and nudity of
the average revue form of entertain-
ment. The lyrics and music are by
Lorenz Ilart and Richard Dodgers,
1 whose "The Girl Friend" and "Dear-
, est Enemy" are pronounced current
successes.
The cast includes William Griffith,
Virginia Watson, Hal Thompson, Wil-
liam Johnston, Eleanor Shaler, Hilde-
