er, president-justice of t h e Municipal
Courts, died at his haroe, 250 West
Ninety-fourth street. He had been
ill about a year. Ile had been a Mu-
nicipal Court justice since 1917 and
. president-justice since January, 1924.

lander was active on the bench
until last June. Justice Friedlander
wait born in Manasquan, N. J., the
son of Jacob II. and Dora Friedland-
er. Following his graduation from
high school, he became a reporter on
a Manasquan newspaper and re.
mained there until he entered the law
school of New York University. On
receiving his degree he opened law
Offices at 271 Broadway. In 1915 he
was elected alderman and two years
later was elected a justice of the
Municipal Court. When Justice
Aaron J. Levy, then president-jus-
tice, was elevated to the Supreme
Court bench, Justice Friedlander was
elected to fill the vacancy.
