A meeting of the Detroit Junior
Hadassah was held on Wednesday
evening, March 24, at Temple Eman-
uel. The meeting was opened with the
singing of Hatikvah. A short ac-
count of Chaim Bialik's life was read
by Miss Ida Velick. Lillian Gottes-
man read a poem called "Volunteers,"
written by Bialik who will be a guest
of the Jewish Community of Detroit

dassah volunteered their services to-
ward the United Palestine Appeal at
this meeting after A. C. Lappin, di-
rector of the campaign, told of the
Detroit campaign and the urgent need
for more workers. Sirs. Frieda Sil-
bert Ullian, national president of
Junior Hadassah, who recently re-
turned from a visit to Palestine, gave
Junior Hadassah members a word pic-
ture of Meier Chfeye, the educational
institute for Palestinian orphans. She
also told of the medical unit, the Sen-
ior Hadassah work in Palestine and of
Palestine as a young country—as an
