AIMS OF THE MEN'S CLUB
HARRY SOLOMON, President
The purport of the Men's Club of
Temple Beth El, as set forth in its
constitution, is to conserve and pro-
mote the Jewish religion and to en-
courage all efforts for the dissemina.

bers of the temple and their house-

Born of your faith and ever-burning zeal,
A mighty temple greets the rising sun;
Its beauty and completeness all reveal
Those dreams with which your mission was begun.
This second home you reared with high intent
Stands as a mark of high accomplishment.
But wondrous though this edifice of stone,
It measures not the fullness you have brought
Into our lives; our grateful hearts alone
Can weigh the good your ceaseless efforts wrought.
How high we hold you, who have served so well,
Our love—our lasting gratitude must tell.
We wish to announce in our greeting to
you at this joyous season that we have on
display a complete line of merchandise for
men of fastidious taste. The well dressed
man will find everything he is looking for
in our vast array of the latest style of
clothes.

Leader and friend—how short a space it seems
Since first you came to share our hopes and fears,
Our joys and sorrows and the cherished dreams
That spurred us onward through the crowded years.
Short space—ah yes—by time of moon or sun,
But limitless in service nobly done.
Bravely you toiled with love and charity.
Yours was the flame that kindled courage, cheer;
Yours was the vision whereby we might see
The greater good that would at last appear.
Yours was the voice of comfort in the dark,
The strength-sustaining, hope-reviving spark.
Scholnick clothes reflect the good taste of
the wearer. They have become recognized
as the ultra in style and serviceability.

into one composite body, being the
first men's club in the brotherhood to
work for the complete democratization
of its temple.
The aim of the affiliated body is to
bring about a complete cohesion, a bet-
ter understanding among all groups;
to instill among its members the ne-
cessity of joining this community
spirit, and to make of the temple not
only a place of worship, but a centre
of community activity. Although we
are pioneering in a field rich in op-
portunities, we now see the great ben-
efits that will soon inure, not only to
each organization within the temple,
but to the temple proper.
We believe the men's temple clubs
throughout the country stand for Xrl
something more than simple meeting
places where members may gather for
social and mental relaxation only.
Each club should be a living, virile,
potent organization, always ready to
assist the congregation it represents
to attain the high ideals it stands for.
I must stand united with the temple
in its efforts to benefit not only all
Jewry, but to gain the respect and
esteem of men of all creeds and re-
ligions. The brotherhood of man, serv-
ice as the keynote for personal and
national development and the univer-
sal idea of good will in reference to
relations of all men and all nations—
these should be our real fundamentals
in the making of a better and a nobler
spirit among all humankind.

its members; to bring to its member-
ship men whose messages imbued their
hearers with respect for our religious
teachings, for the high thoughts and
ideals that have been handed down
through the ages, for the duty we owe
our spiritual leaders, our congrega-
tion, our country, ourselves.
Among the periodical dinner meet-
ings held by the club during the sea-
son the "Fellowship Night" dinner is
an outstanding one. This event, ini-
tiated by the Men's Temple Club, is
one to which members are asked to
bring non-Jewish guests, at which
meeting the speakers are of different
denominations.
These gatherings, addressed by
some of our most prominent non-
Jewish preachers and laymen, have
instilled within those present a spirit
of good will, of friendship and fellow_
ship; it has brought to our meetings
speakers prominent in their respec-
tive spheres, of broad mind and vision,
with a perspicacity of thought, of ideas
and ideals long to be remembered. We
believe these dinners redound to the
betterment of men of all faiths; it
tends to broaden the perspective of
those whose views are biased and
opinionated. It is a gathering of men
grouped together for the purpose of
spreading the gospel of broadminded-
ness, of tolerance, of justice, of love
for our fellow men.
The club, in addition to its social
and intellectual features, has spon-
sored a series of religious lectures, de-
livered by teachers standing foremost
in the ranks of the Hebrew Union Col-
lege at Cincinnati. These lectures
have been inspirational sod instruc-
tive and have brought forward that
Jewish consciousness that has been
latent in the members all these years.
One of the most forward steps taken
by the Men's Club, in collaboration
with the other groups, was the cul-
mination of the various organizations
