ORGANIZE BIALYSTOKER
VERBAND BY DETROITERS

Thirty Bialystoker men and women
of Detroit met on Oct. 25 and decided
to organize a "Bialystoker Verband,"
with a view to helping the suffers in
Bialystok. For more than • year Jew-
ish residents of the Russian city have
endured a painful and prolonged eco-
nomic crisis and thousands of work-
men and middleclass men were finan-
cially ruined. As is usual in ouch
cases. the children suffered the most
and, in addition, the year hears the
tale of many deaths from starvation
and misery and committing suicide.
An organizing committee has been
chosen to facilitate the beginning of
the Verband, which is composed of
Mrs. Oscar Warren, the Misses Ger-
trude Sallee, Shorn Saslav, Sara Ep-
stein and Nettie Lubetzky, MOW, Sas-
lay, Roy Kurian, Boris Cohen, Albert
Wohlman, F. Lipnick, temporary pres-
ident: Mrs. A. Goldberg, treasurer;
and Joseph Jachnuk, secretary. Dr.
Herman Frank, Samuel Epstein and
Joseph Redding are members of the
board of trustees.
A meeting of the Bialvstoker Ver-
band will be held on Sunday, Nov. 22,
at 8 o'clock at 1111 Westminster ave-
nue (second floor) to which all De-
troiters who are from Bialsytok or
neighboring t•iwns, as Vasilkova, Za-
bludove, Krynek, Horodok, etc., or
