I further declare that I am not in sympathy with the principles of the Klan, that I repudiate the organization, I have made no promise to the organization. or its members, and that its indorsements was without my knowledge, consent or deire. As a member, and official of organized labor for a period of 31 years, it has been my pleasant duty, to serve people in all walks of life, regardless of race, creed, or color, which is a fundamental principle of the labor movement. This practice in an organization of semi- public nature has stood men in good stead since being elected to public office. My sole object in seeking election as a City Councilman at this time is the same as heretofore, namely, to serve all of the people composing the city of Detroit, to the best of my ability, as any public official should do. Since becoming a City Councilman I have endeavored, and if elected will further endeavor, to keep foremost in mind the in- terests,of the citizens and taxpayers on all questions affecting them; to promote their well being and happiness and give atten- tion to the distressed and less fortunate, as part of the city's social problems.
