BUCHAREST—(J. T. A.)—Inten-

Say Unemployment Augmented by
sive anti-Semitic propaganda is to be

expected in Roumania as a result of
a conference of the leaders of the
Roumanian academic youth which is
reported to have taken place at the
residence of Attorney Iljescu, well-
known leader of the Roumanian anti-
Semitic movement.
Reports state that this conference
decided to organize small academic
groups for the purpose of developing
during th summer vacation stronger
anti-Semitic propaganda in Rou-
mania. An open congress of Rou-
manian academic students is to take
place shortly. The conference also
decided to begin publication of an
anti-Semitic journal, "Knowikful Stu-
tentescu" (Academic Message).

VIENNA.—(J. T. A.) — The Vi-
enna chamber for manual and non-
manual workers recently held a meet-
ing at which one of the chief sub-
jects of discussion was the action
which this public body has announced
for the promotion of emigration. Dur-
ing the discussion it was pointed out
that unemployment in Austria is be-
ing greatly increased by the continu-
ous stream of immigration. In spite
of the fact that trade has been bad
and wages low during the first quar-
ter of 1925, some 3,000 aliens have
entered Austria either to take up
work already accepted, or in search
of employment. In the report of the
meeting given by the Weiner Ar-
beiterzeitung, the following comment

For this reason the government
has submitted to bodies representing
economic interests a bill for the pro-
tection of Austrian workers which
would restrict the appointment and
em ployment of alien workers so long
as the present trade slump continues.
In most respects the bill corresponds
closely with the proposal put forward
by the above chamber almost two
years ago on the same subject. At
that time the government, apparently
under pressure from the employers,
rejected the proposal. It may be said
without fear of exaggeration that
since that time over 20,000 alien
workers have entered the country.
The chamber, which is in sympathy
with the general principles of the
hill, is now cinsidering it in detail,

PARIS.—(J. T. A.)—An invita-
tion extended to Louis Marshall by
Dr. Chaim Weizmann to' attend the
Fourteenth Zionist Congress was de-
clined by Mr. Marshall. It was stated
that Mr. Marshall preferred that the
question of the entrance of non-Zion-
ists into the Jewish Agency which is
to be finally decided by the congress
be presented to the congress by Dr.
Weizmann himself. Mr. Marshall
further stated that the fear prevalent
in certain Zionist circles that the
$15,000,000 campaign of the Joint
Distribution Committee for Jewish
colonization work in Russia and re-
lief in other European countries
would in any way interfere with
the collections of the Keren Hayesod
or with the proposed plan of the Pal-
