PALESTINE---the MIRACLE of the AGE!
The last of the three candles was
flickering and turning to a blue light
when Sammy's father said: "Sammy,
go to bed." Sammy said "All right"
and left the room. This was rather
unusual and Sammy's mother looked
in surprise. "Is he sick?" she whis-
pered.
"No," wan the quiet reply, "but I
guess he's fixed--I mean reformed a
little."
"What did you do?"
"I don't know. He said he'd rather
be a Christian than a Jew, no I gave
him his choice. That's all I did, so
you can't blame me now."
"Sammy," called his mother, "are
you sick? Don't you feel good to-
night?"
"Ye-es; tell Pa to come here a min-
ute, will you?" It didn't sound a bit
like Sammy. His arrogance and self-
confidence was entirely gone. lie
acted as though he had just learned
that older men and women were wiser
than children.
Mrs. Edman followed her husband
upstairs.
"What do you want, Sammy?"
"Pa?" inquired Sammy.
"Yen, what do you want?"
"I just wanted to answer what you
asked me a few days ago. I decided
already."
"All right. but remember, it's final.
What is it?"
"Well, I wanted to tell you I
learned a lesson. I guess Christians
are all right, but--hut I want to be
a Jew."
It was Sammy's decision. It
changed him into a new boy; it gave
Mrs. Edman faith in her husband, and
it proved to Sammy's father that all
things did happen for the best. And
you may he sure that Sammy never
regretted his decision.

If you would really

Developing and supporting 90 agricultural colonies; assisting thousands of immigrants
to enter the land and find employment; co-operating in the maintainance of the Hadassah
Medical Organization; providing for the construction of hundreds of houses throufh mort-
gage loans; maintaining 120 schools; assisting the labo co-operatives to carry through pub-
lic and other works; promoting trade and industry, assisting the Jewish National Fund, the
Mizrachi institutions, etc.
It is most fitting that the Peo-
ple of the I3ook should establish
a university as the crown of their
educational institutions. And it
witnesses their practical idealism
that in the very first (lays of the
re-establishment of the National
Jewish Homeland the founda-
tions of the University are laid.
Like the settlers of New Eng-
land, facing a life of struggle
and hardship, they nevertheless
feel the need and the desire for
opportunities of study and learn-
ing that a university alone can
give. Insistent as are the de-
mands for agricultural. indus-
trial and economic development
of the land, American Jewry
surely will be eager to support
this institution of learning and
research.
