Five No Thousand Residents of
th End Attend Schor
Opening.

The formal opening of the Schor
Furniture Company's new store at!
8926-30 Twelfth street Tuesday af-1
ternoon and evening achieved the dis-
tinction of being a real social event
as well as marking auspiciously the
beginning of a large business ven-
ture.

Visitors to the opening were
mediately impressed by the well de-1
signed and remarkably well lighted
windows, as well as by the conveni-
ent entrance to the store. Indeed, the
entire exterior is pleasing and bears
evidence of being designed exclusive-
ly for the purpose for which it is be-1
ing used. A furniture store must'
have plenty of light and this new
building is exceptionally fine in this
important particular.
The interior of the store was beau-1
tifully arranged for the occasion and
lavishly decorated with flowers. The
decorations, however, in no way obl
scared the exquisite displays of fine
furniture. The main floor was given
to the showing of living room suites,1
decorative•odd chairs and other indi-
vidual pieces intended for the living
rqom or hall. The basement displays
were not complete but it will house
the stove and kitchen departments.
One of the most admirable features
of the arrangement is a spacious bal-
cony across the rear of the store, with!
wide steps leading up to it and two
wide staircases from the balcony to I
the second floor. Few stores in De- 1
trout provide such easy access to sec-
ond fluor displays and a large and
roomy electric elevator is also pro-
vided for the convenience of second
floor customers.
The second floor is devoted entirely
to bedroom and dining room furni-
ture of the better sort and many
suites are shown that are apparently
exclusive but are obviously reason-
ably priced.
Five thousand residents of the
Twelfth street district attended the
opening. Appropriate souvenirs were'
distributed to the visitors.
Mr. Schor, who has a well estab-
fished store at 455 Gratiot avenue,
will make the new store his headquar-1
ters.
