VER eighty times have Christmas
and New Year's come and gone
since the establishment of The
Harry J. Dean Company in Detroit.
Many are those, now grown old, or
passed to their reward who, as little
children, played about their Christmas
trees and enjoyed New Year's Day in a
Dean-decorated and furnished home.
It has been a pleasure, and a privilege,
the affording of this home-beautifying
service—a service which we hope to
continue, with increasing usefulness,
throughout many years to come.

of the clubs. The Guard+ of Judaea,

A nominal charge is being made
for admission to defray expenses.

The life dream of Miss Jessie Bon-
stelle will be realized when the Bon-
stelle Playhouse opens its doors to the
public New Year's night, Jan. 1. It
will mark the opening of the first
theater that might be called Detroit's
own, for Miss Bonstelle hopes to make
it an integral part of the civic life of
Detroit.
In casting about for a suitable play
for the opening she selected "The
Best People," but the Charles Froh-
man offices at first refused to release
it for a stock presentation, as the road
tour of this New York success ha+
(scarcely begun. However, after much
persuasion. aisles] by Gilbert Miller
and Bertram Harrison, Miss Bonstelle
managed to secure a release.
"The Best People" is the work of '
David Gray and Avery Hopwood, built
upon a story by the former bearing
the title of "The Determination of the
lAmnoxes." It is of the smart satire I
type, dealing with the meanderings of
the son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Brunson Lennox, who have pampered
their children and left them to their
own resources.

As reward for 34 years of faithful
service. Adolf Deutsch. noted furni-
ture dealer, pensioned his horse, Bob,
and sent him to Baldwin, L. I., to
spend the rest of his days. Mr.
Deutsch acquired Bob when he first
started his business in New York.
