Yes and no.
In the long run, it costs the owner of that
splendid home less to operate and maintain
his Packard Six than it costs you to drive
your 3-year ordinary car.
Get the facts from him about gasoline and
tire mileage, repair hills, insurance, long life
and re-sale value. You'll find he has your
figures beaten by a wide margin.
So why deprive yourself of all the joys of
Packard ownership when they really cost
you less than you are now paying?

h (any peeler to tukeativantageof Packard's extremely
liberal time payment plan to enjoy immediately t h e
advantages of a Packard Six or Packard Eight—
purchasing out of income instead of capital, just as
practically all other necessities are now bought.

A RETURN FROM INDIFFERENCE

By SOLOMON IBN GAMBOL

Obviously, the dominant factor in Jewish life in Amer-
ica during the coming year will be the effect of the practi-
cal cessation of immigration. This result of a recrudescence
of Rnow-Nothingism and a provincial rejection of every-
thing that is not standardized to an alleged American pat-
ter is a most unfortunate phenomenon in American life.
From a purely Jewish point of view, it is to be expected
that religious and racial feelings will be rather intensified
and that there will be a return from the long-continued
indifference. Every Jew is being compelled to consider
his standing in Jewry and to appraise his inheritance.
Jewish life will undoubtedly gain in value from this pro-
cess. Jews will everywhere find their greatest satisfac-
tion in making Jewish life worth-while and the self-con-
scious attempts to escape notice will probably cease.
With the stoppage of immigration, the elements here
in Jewish life that are genuinely Jewish, and not Polish-
Jewish, Russian-Jewish and German-Jewish, will become
recognized and a more widespread sympathy with the tre-
mendous efforts being made in Palestine will come to the
fore.
