The Polish government is claiming the right to nominate three addi-
tional members to the board of the Warsaw Jewish communal organization
and has stated its intention of nominating three assimilationiste for mem-
bership so that all tendencies in Jewry should be represented. At the
recent election to the board of the Warsaw Kehillah, all the assimilationist
candidates were defeated. The club of Jewish deputies held a special meet- :4
ing to consider the government's claim. Deputy Gruenbaum and Deputy A
Rabbi l,evin contended that the law does not give the government any
right to nominate representatives to the board of the Jewish community.
The representatives of all the parties on the new board have decided that
no prsons nominated by the government will be allowed to take their seats
on the board. A commission has been appointed, consisting of Deputy
Greenbaum, Deputy Rabbi Dr. Thon and Deputy A. Kirachbraun, to ton- ,ck
soy the decision to the minister of education and public worship and to ask
him to withdraw the government's claim and allow• the board to co-opt
three additional representatives.
