WASHINGTON.—(J. T. A.).

ing the new immigration law, explain-
ed certain features of the law, and
the regulations issued thereunder,
particularly respecting the procedure
to obtain immigration visas for rela-
tives exempt from the quota, and
those relatives given preference with-
in the quota.
Relatives totally exempt from
quota restrictions are the wives and
unmarried children, under 18 years
of age, of American citizens; minis-
ters of religion, college professors,
their wives and unmarried children
under eighteen; as well as bona tide
students, at least 15 years of age,
seeking entry temporarily for the
purpose of pursuing their education
at government approved educational
institutions.
The next class, which is not, how-
ever, exempt from the quota, but
merely given preference over all
other applicants, up to one-half of
each month's quota, is comprised of
children between 18 and 21, fathers,
mothers, husbands or wives of Ameri-
can citizens, and also immigrants who
are skilled in agriculture and their
dependent children under 16.

Declarants Kin Not Preferred.

The attention of the public is cal-
led to the fact that outside of the
exceptions above mentioned, the only
relatives entitled to exemption or
preference, are these whose relatives
in America are full-fledged citizens
of this country, and that the rela-
tive, of mere declarants or immi-
, grants are not entitled to any prefer-

Rabbi Wolf Gold, well-known bliz-
rachi leader and rabbi of the United
Jewish Orthodox Community of this
city, has resigned his post and is leav-
ing for Palestine.
Rabbi Gold, since coming to San
Francisco from New York, made a
strenuous effort to build up in the

community. He succeeded in scour-
ing a Jewish center for the orthodox
group, where activities along spirit-
ual, social and recreational lines for
young and old are carried on.
