At the last meeting of Pisgah Lodge
No. 34, I. 0. li. B., held Monday
evening, March 21, the following reso-
luti•n, which was introduced by Mil-
' ton M. Alexander, was unanimously
adopted:
"Whereas, It has been called to the
attention of Pisgah Lodge, No. 34,
I. 0. B. B., that certain proposed
appropriations for the coming year
have been disallowed; and
"Whereas, Among these are appro-
priations, designed to further social
service and Character-building sc-
. tivities, in which this organization is
especially interested, notably those for
the Recreation Commission, Special
Education Department, and Women's
Police Department; and
"Whereas, The allowance of these
budgets will mean a total tax of only
six rents for every thousand dollars
of assessed valuation; and
! "Whereas, Our city has token the
lead in municipal direction of public
work of many kinds.
"Therefore, Be it resolved that
Pisgah Lodge, No. 34, I. 0. B. B.,
in regular meeting assembled, urge

according to an announcement made
' at the March meeting of the Keren
Ilayesod Luncheon Club held at the
Board of Commerce March 20. Fred
M. Butzel delivered an address and
exerted the members of the organiza-
tion to continue their efforts to raise
the quota of $150,000 set for Detroit.
Jacob Miller, regional director of the
Keren Hayesod for Michigan, an-
nounced that $300,000 had been for-
warded to the Keren Ilayesod head-
quarters in New York.
Mail Brings Returns.
Mr. Miller made it known that as
a result of literature sent through
the mails explaining the present con-
dition of the Jewish people and the
part that Palestine is to play in the
solution of Jewish problems and giv-
ing information as to the plans and
activities of the Keen Ilayesod, sub-
scriptions are coming in daily from
people who heretofore had not been
interested in the Palestine question.
The next meeting of the Luncheon
Club will take place at the Board of
Commerce Thursday, April 17. The
membership committee announced
that it expected to report at that
meeting a total of 100 members.
