16 years of age, or $20 a month in
the event that there were children
but no widow. Since then the cost
of living has increased by leaps and
bounds. On several occasions since
the pension law was passed police-
men and firem Cu,,'ese had their
salaries increased but the pensions
have remained the same. In 1891
the pensions for widows amounted to
two-thirds of a patrolman's salary,
whereas today it is only one-fourth
the amount asked for patrolmen in
the present budget.
The amendments increase the rate
from $50 to $100 a month for
widows and from $10 to $20 for chil-
dren. To inert the increase there
will be no perceptible addition to the
tax burden, the increase being but
three cents per $1,000 valuation. On
the present payroll there are 39
widows and 43 children of policemen
and 28 widows and 14 children of fire-
men.
Judge H. B. Keidan, Joseph H.
Moynihan, and Edward Command con-
stitute a judicial committee which is
urging the adoption of the amend-
ments.

Gray Motor Record for 1924
Expected to Be Phenomenal.

The Gray Motor Sales Company,
which is now installed in its new and
enlarged quarters, 11631 Woodward
avenue, announces that its service ar-
rangements are now completed
throughout Michigan and that Gray
motorists may now find adequate
service all over the United States.
The new Gray group has attracted
favorable attention by reason of
sheer merit and beauty of design.
Coming into the crowded 1924 field
with only the prestige of last year's
performance and record of economy,
the Gray seems to have created a dis-
tinct field for itself. In Detroit it is
selling big and orders are pouring in
from all parts of the country.
The low price of the car, the
beautiful body designs and the Gray
record of more than 30 miles to the
gallon are abundant reasons why the
Gray has achieved the great popu-
larity it has won.
