The workers of the Keren Ilayesod
are determined to put over the drive;
and, as evidence of their determina-
tion, they report larger collections to
date than at the Mine time last year.
The volunteer organization, which was
formed to carry on the work of ...I-
leeting the funds fur the Keren nape-
sod as well as to conduct the Keren
Ilayesod activities during the whole
year, are fulfilling the premise which
they made. The local committee has
already sent to the headquarters of
the Keren Ilayesod the sum of $15,-
000.
The report of the number of con-
tributors and the amounts contributed,
which MI StO be published in the
Chronicle, will have to be postponed
because several If the largest con-
tributors have not yet definitely de-
cided as to the amount which they
will contribute. The Chronicle wlil
publish a complete list of contributors.
$5,000,000 in 1924.
That in the figure and that is the
goal. That is the figure which car-
ries within it a description of what
is expected of us, and what is to be
created by us. Do you know what
that means for the Jewish National
Home? It means an assured Jewish
position in Palestine, entrenched and
invincible. It means wrapping the
Palestine Mandate around with bands
of iron which no attack of Arabs or
anti-Semites will ever be able to re-
move. It means adding a thousand-
fold resistance to every position we
have acquired. It means enlarging
the Jewish settlement, manifold in its
activities, able to withstand all attack
and to stretch out to new areas in
Palestine that have never before been
reached. It means creating a situa-
him in which thousands of new fac-
tors of dynamic power may find place
and opportunity for extending Jewish
influence.
